This elementary school counseling classroom guidance lesson promotes empathy, understanding, and non-judgment but teaching students that we can't always know someone just by seeing their appearance. Students look at photos of unknown students (provided) and share what they know about the person based on the photo. School counselor reads a narrative about the person to check for understanding - were your assumptions right?
Students create a "What's on the Inside?" booklet to share with others how they appear on the outside and what others would see if they looked inside!
Includes lesson plan (objectives, outline, materials list, ASCA mindsets/behaviors alignment), 2 unknown student pictures/narratives, booklet example, and blank booklets for students.
